AI connector

ALB Equity in your AI assistant.

Connect Claude or ChatGPT to the monthly ALB ranking and to your own saved work. Read-only unless you say otherwise. Nothing trades, and nothing it returns is advice.

15 tools · 13 read-only · 2 write, opt-in

01 — Overview

One connector, your own account’s data.

What it is

The ALB Equity connector is a remote MCP server. It lets an AI assistant that you choose read the same monthly release you see in the app, a ranking of about 950 to 1,000 large-cap equities in the United States, Canada and developed Europe, and work with your own saved portfolios and reports. It works with Claude, with ChatGPT and with any client that supports remote MCP servers with sign-in.

Who can use it

Anyone with an existing ALB Equity account. Accounts are by invitation: the request-access form asks for a walkthrough and does not create one. The assistant gets access to your account only, so it sees your own saved lists and reports and never another user’s. Professional use only.

02 — Set up

Add it to your assistant.

Both assistants need the same address. Copy it, then follow the steps for yours. You sign in with your ALB Equity account, so you need one before you start.

Server URL

https://alb-equity.com/mcp

Claude

  1. 01Open Claude and go to Customize, then Connectors.
  2. 02Choose Add custom connector.
  3. 03Name it ALB Equity and paste the server URL. Leave any advanced sign-in fields empty: the connector registers itself.
  4. 04Choose Connect. Your browser opens ALB Equity’s sign-in. Sign in, read the consent screen, and choose Allow.
  5. 05In a chat, switch ALB Equity on from the connectors menu, then ask your question.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner may need to add the connector for the organisation first.

ChatGPT

  1. 01Open ChatGPT and go to Settings, then Apps & Connectors.
  2. 02While ALB Equity is not listed in the directory, turn on developer mode in the advanced settings and choose Create to add a custom connector.
  3. 03Name it ALB Equity, paste the server URL as the MCP server URL and choose OAuth for authentication. Confirm that you trust the application and create the connector.
  4. 04Choose Connect, sign in on the page that opens, read the consent screen, and choose Allow.
  5. 05In a new chat, add ALB Equity from the tools menu, then ask your question.

Developer mode is available on some plans and workspaces only, and menu names change now and then. We are preparing a directory listing: once it is live you will add ALB Equity from the directory and these steps will no longer be needed. The sign-in and the permissions stay the same.

03 — Permissions

Read always. Write only if you tick it.

The consent screen names the assistant that is asking and where you will be sent next, so check it is the one you meant to connect. Access then lasts 30 minutes at a time and renews itself while the connection is in use; one left unused for 30 days has to be approved again.

Always allowed

Read

  • Your account profile: the display name
  • The ranked equity universe: screen, look up securities and sectors
  • Your saved portfolios
  • Your saved reports

Opt-in, unticked by default

Write

“Save or edit a portfolio on your behalf.” It enables two things: saving a new list, and applying switches, adds and removes to one of your own lists. It cannot delete anything or touch the model, and without it neither write tool is even offered to the assistant. You can delete any list in the app.

04 — Tools

15 tools. 13 only read.

You do not call them yourself: describe what you want and the assistant picks the tools. These are the descriptions the server gives it. Nothing here places an order or moves money.

Reading the model

The ranked universe, one company, the sectors and the official portfolio, plus a custom re-rank and a CSV.

  • alb_screen_universeread-only

Screens the ranked equity universe of one release by sector, industry, decile range or a ticker/name search, up to 100 securities per page, with deciles and style/macro scores. Use it for open-ended questions such as which Health Care names are in the top decile. Higher is better everywhere: decile 9 is the top decile. Sector and industry take GICS names (case-insensitive; industry names are stored cut at 30 characters); when nothing matches, the response lists the valid ones.

  • alb_get_security_detailread-only

All model data for one security, by exact security_id or ticker (a ticker used on more than one exchange returns every match; check listing and name). Use it once you know which company you want.

  • alb_get_sector_breakdownread-only

The release's official sector and industry allocation (positions and weights) and breadth statistics, including published eligibility counts. Defaults to the latest release. Sector and industry counts are rounded independently by the engine; see rounding_reconciliation.

  • alb_get_model_portfolioread-only

The model's official target portfolio for a release at its default style weights: one line per position with sector, industry and rank within the industry. Defaults to the latest release.

  • alb_build_tilted_portfolioread-only

Re-ranks the universe under custom Growth/Valuation/Quality/Momentum weights and returns the top N names (10-200). It only computes: nothing is saved and no order is placed.

  • alb_export_csvread-only

Returns a CSV, as text, of the official model portfolio, an explicit list of security_ids, or one of the caller's saved portfolios. Nothing is emailed or stored. Ids not found in the release are listed in unmatched_security_ids.

Releases

The model is published monthly. Every other tool reads the latest release unless you name one.

  • alb_diff_releasesread-only

What changed between a release and the one published before it, at the published weighting: the names that entered and left the official model portfolio, how many names' decile rose or fell, how many entered or left the top decile, how many names entered or left the universe, and the sectors whose position count moved. Defaults to the latest release and the one just before it.

  • alb_list_releasesread-only

Lists the published monthly model releases, newest first, with reference date and number of securities. The first one is the default for every other tool; pass any of them as release_version to read an older month.

  • alb_get_release_inforead-only

Metadata for one release: version, reference date, default style weights, macro-score family names, universe size, and whether it is the latest. Defaults to the latest release.

Your account and saved work

Only your own account. Nothing from another user is ever returned.

  • alb_get_profileread-only

Returns the display name of the ALB Equity account this connection is signed in as. Use it to confirm which account is connected.

  • alb_list_saved_portfoliosread-only

The caller's own saved portfolios (name, security ids, optional style weights), or one of them by id.

  • alb_review_portfolioread-only

Reviews one of the caller's saved portfolios (or an explicit list of security_ids) in a release against the release before it, at the weights it was built with: for every name its decile now and before, whether it is still eligible, whether it left the universe or moved 2 or more deciles; for each name no longer eligible or gone, the highest-ranked eligible name of the same industry not held, as a switch or an add, with the sells and buys that would follow and the edits in alb_update_portfolio's shape. It only computes: nothing is saved. Defaults to the latest release.

  • alb_list_reportsread-only

The caller's own saved reports, or one of them by id.

The two writes

Off unless you tick it when you sign in. One adds a list, the other edits one of yours.

  • alb_save_portfoliowrite

Saves a new named list of securities, optionally with the style weights it was built with, to the caller's ALB Equity account. It always creates a new entry and never changes or deletes existing ones (alb_update_portfolio edits one). Needs the write permission the user can tick at sign-in. Use dryRun to validate first.

  • alb_update_portfoliowrite

Applies Portfolio Builder edits — switches (one held name out, a name of the release in), adds and removes, each with an optional note — to one of the caller's own saved portfolios and updates that entry's securities and build record in place; its id, name and style weights are kept. It never creates or deletes a portfolio. Needs the write permission the user can tick at sign-in. Every name must be in the release (ticker and listing, e.g. "VZ" / "US"); use dryRun to see the resulting holdings first.

05 — The scale

Higher is better. Everywhere.

Every number the connector returns reads the way the app shows it. Decile 9 is the top decile and 0 the bottom; the deciles are ten equal-sized bands, so the top two are 8 and 9. Group by decile when you want to compare names.

These are ranks across one universe on one date. They are not returns, price targets or forecasts, and the continuous composite score is never returned.

06 — Examples

Things to ask.

Plain requests work. Name ALB Equity so the assistant reaches for it. Sectors use the standard GICS spelling, such as Health Care and Information Technology; the universe has no Financials sector.

  • “Using ALB Equity, which Health Care names are in the top decile of the latest release?”
  • “Show the Information Technology names in deciles 8 and 9, grouped by industry.”
  • “Look up VZ and show its decile, its four style scores and its macro-scores.”
  • “Compare the latest release with the previous one: which Industrials entered the top decile?”
  • “Re-rank the universe with 50% Quality and 50% Momentum and show the top 30 names next to the official model portfolio.”
  • “Export the official model portfolio as a CSV.”
  • “Show my saved portfolios and my saved reports.”
  • “Save those 30 names as a new list called “Q4 quality and momentum”.”Needs the write permission.
  • “Review my “Core 100” portfolio against the latest release: which names are no longer eligible, and what are the same-industry switches?”
  • “Apply the first two of those switches to “Core 100”, with the review note on each.”Needs the write permission.

07 — Your data

Where your data goes.

The short version. The privacy policy has the full one.

  • We receive the OAuth tokens and the arguments of each call: tickers, a sector, search text, and the list you ask it to save.
  • We log your user ID, the tool name, the status, the duration, a request ID, the query parameters of read calls and any error text, for 12 months.
  • Results go to your assistant, Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI), which handles them under its own terms.
  • We never request your conversation history. We see the tool calls, not your chat.
  • No advertising and no tracking in the connector: it records only the audit log described in the privacy policy.

08 — Revoke

Switch it off immediately.

  1. Sign in to ALB Equity and open AI assistants under Connect. The page is also called Connected apps.
  2. Under Connected assistants, choose Revoke next to the assistant and confirm.

Revoking takes effect at once: the assistant’s next call is refused. To tidy up, remove the connector in the assistant’s own settings too. You can connect again at any time by approving a new consent request.

09 — Troubleshooting

When something doesn’t work.

The sign-in keeps sending me back to the login page
The connector signs you in with an existing ALB Equity account. Open alb-equity.com/login in the same browser, sign in with your password or the Email link tab, then start the connection again. Make sure the browser allows site data for alb-equity.com: a private window or a strict blocker can lose the session.
It says I am not invited, or no sign-in link arrives
Accounts exist by invitation only. Use the e-mail address your invitation went to. If you have no account yet, request a walkthrough; the form does not create one. Otherwise write to support@alb-equity.com.
I revoked the assistant but it still looks connected
Revoking works at once on our side: the next call is refused. The assistant may keep listing the connector in its old state. Remove it in the assistant’s connector settings, and add it again if you want it back.
The assistant cannot save a list
Saving needs the write permission, which is unticked by default, and without it the save tool is not offered at all. Revoke the assistant, connect again and tick the box on the consent screen.
A sector or industry returns nothing
Sector and industry are GICS names: Health Care, not Healthcare; Information Technology, not Tech. There is no Financials sector. Industry names are stored cut at 30 characters; a full name still matches. When a name matches nothing, the response lists the valid ones, so ask again with one of them.
I want an older month
Every tool reads the latest release unless told otherwise. Ask for a month by name, for example “use the 2026.06 release”, and the assistant passes it as release_version. alb_list_releases shows which releases exist.
ALB Equity does not show up in my chat
Switch it on for the conversation from the assistant’s connectors or tools menu. Custom connectors can depend on your plan, developer mode or an administrator’s settings.
Still stuck
Write to support@alb-equity.com with the details listed on the support page.

10 — Limits

What it is not.

  • Not investment advice. It is research data: a cross-sectional ranking, not a forecast or a price target. Decile 9 is the top band of the ranking, not an instruction to buy.
  • No trading. Nothing places an order, moves money or connects to a bank or a broker.
  • Monthly, not live. Each release is a snapshot of one reference date.
  • Assistants can be wrong. They are third-party services and can misread or mis-summarise results. Check what you rely on against the app.
  • For professionals. See the terms of service.
